Applications are now open for Road to Euro Connection/Italy, for which IDM Film & Music Commission Südtirol offers support to a selected local team for the program.
The 19th edition of Euro Connection, the European co-production forum for short film projects, will take place on 2-3 February 2027 during the Festival International du Court Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand, the world's most important event dedicated to the short format.
In addition, for the third consecutive year, the application to Euro Connection expands with the parallel project Road to Euro Connection/Italy, the training, mobility and networking path organized by the Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio and aimed at producer and director teams with a short film in development who have applied to the Euro Connection call.
What is Euro Connection?
Euro Connection is the European co-production forum for short film projects held in February as part of the Festival International du Court Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand, and represents an extraordinary opportunity for European producers to find an international co-production partner. Thanks to past editions of Euro Connection, 147 films have been completed, including 78 international co-productions.
Euro Connection Selection Procedure
The Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio, as the Italian correspondent, has for more than a decade handled the promotion of the Euro Connection call, the collection of applications, and the selection of projects, which is entrusted to a jury of three industry professionals.
The selection consists of two steps: the first, for Italian projects, is finalized by the Centro, which identifies one or two projects among those submitted for Italy and puts them forward for evaluation by the Euro Connection board. The second step, covering all projects, is carried out by the international board of professionals appointed by Euro Connection, which selects 12 projects from among all those submitted by the national correspondents.
The finalist projects will be presented to an audience of potential co-producers, broadcasters, and public funders during the event that will take place in Clermont-Ferrand on 2-3 February 2027.

What is Road to Euro Connection/Italy?
For the third consecutive year, a further opportunity is being consolidated for Italian projects applying to Euro Connection. Thanks to the new Road to Euro Connection/Italy path, devised by the Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio in collaboration with the Festival International du Court Métrage de Clermont-Ferrand and developed thanks to the 2024 Guidelines for training and professional development in the cultural sector of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, a selection of 5 Italian projects will have the opportunity to undertake a training and professionalizing experience with an international scope. Selected teams will take part in two industry events: ShorTO Film Market in Turin (28-30 November 2026) and the Talents Connexion program of the Marché du Film Court in Clermont-Ferrand (1-4 February 2027). Only in the event of selection for Road to Euro Connection/Italy, each of the 5 teams will be asked to pay a participation fee of €160.00.
PLEASE NOTE
The IDM contribution may be granted to the local team only upon admission to Road to Euro Connection/Italy. The decision on the team's eligibility will be made independently by the Centro Nazionale del Cortometraggio.
Local team = Made up of at least one film industry professional recognized under the "Alto Adige effect," i.e. professionals who were born and/or reside in Alto Adige and/or who study or graduated from the ZeLIG School starting from the 2007-2010 training cycle.
The IDM contribution covers the costs of the workshop, travel, and accommodation, as well as reimbursement of travel expenses to and from Turin, should a South Tyrolean project be selected for the initiative. The participation fee is reduced to 80,00€ for the selected team.
