Twelve projects funded in the first call of 2026

Reading time

IDM Film & Music Commission is supporting twelve projects in the first funding call of the year. Seven of the nine Italian projects come from South Tyrol, two projects from Germany, and one from Austria. 74 shooting days are scheduled in South Tyrol for the realization of the supported productions. The total funding amount is distributed among production funding for seven projects – four feature films, two documentaries, and one series – as well as two short film projects. In the pre-production phase, three film concepts are being funded: one feature film and two documentaries.

Seven projects are supported with production funding

"Joe der Film II" tells the story of the clueless Joe from Afing, who suddenly finds himself confronted with the lead role in an Ötzi movie. Produced by Bolzano-based movie.mento and Albolina Film, the film is written and directed by Thomas Hochkofler, who slips back into the role of Joe. The co-author is Robert Ausserer. Filming is expected to start in autumn for a total of 28 shooting days. The German family entertainment production "Miniatur Wunderland" will shoot in South Tyrol for a few days. The adventure story of four-year-old Matteo, who is sucked into the model world of the Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg by a magic stone, will be filmed starting in August. The Italian Romanian production "Dor" will also stop in South Tyrol. Between Bolzano and Merano, Valeria Testagrossa (director and co-writer with Giulia Pietrozzini) will realize parts of her story about two women who could not be more different yet find close friendship. Set in Frankfurt am Main is the German social drama "Jumoke" by Oliver Hardt, produced by the German production companies Neopol Film, Kellner & Zapf, and Oma Inge Film. In it, Jumoke and Eddy fight for a place in life in an unusual love story amidst the focal points of current social upheavals. Everything revolves around craftsmanship and the mechanization of these professions in the documentary "Ultimo Artigiano". In her Italian German documentary project "Voi come noi", Lilian Sassanelli investigates how the view of entire generations of women on female beauty has been shaped; produced by Matto Film from Bolzano, Ventura Film from Chiasso, and Glass Frog Films (Hamburg). Filming starts in April. And in the Austrian true-crime documentary series "Exit: E66 – Der Tod von Ulrike Reistenhofer und Carmen Wieser", Robert Buchschwenter (script) and Florian Kröppel (script and director) tell of a series of unsolved murders of women between Germany, Austria, and Italy. Vienna-based Looks Vienna Media is producing.

Support for two short films

In her horror film "Bestie Forever", Cecilia Bozza Wolf tells the story of two friends, one of whom is disfigured in the face while saving the other, and retreats into isolation as a consequence of the incident. The film is produced by Abisso Studio from Bozen. With "Anita è un Pesce", produced by Frabiatofilm from Bolzano, Giulia Palaia opens up a dystopian world on the Adriatic Sea where anthropomorphic fish creatures hold back tourism. For the two friends Anita and Olivia, a surreal journey begins there. The project was developed as part of the short film programme MASO #1.

Pre-production funding for three film projects

The partly animated biopic "Alexander Langer" portrays this famous South Tyrolean politician and intellectual. Alessandro Ingaria wrote the treatment and will direct, while Simone Massi curates the animated part. Abisso Studio is the producer. In "Ultima Irratio", filmmakers Martine De Biasi and Katharina Burger accompany themselves with the camera during the founding of their family – a joint production of Albolina Film from Bolzano and Eutopiafilm from Innsbruck. And authors Armin Ferrari and Jadel Andreetto are preparing the biopic "Tovarišc Omega Jim" about Peter Kolosimo (1922–1984), the Italian cult author of fantastic archaeology. Point Nemo from Milan is producing.
