Following its world premiere at the Filmfest in Munich in early July, “Simon Messner – Aus dem Schatten” (Out of the Shadow) celebrated its South Tyrol premiere in September. At the Filmclub in Bolzano, prominent figures from South Tyrol’s film scene and beyond attended the opening screening, marking the film’s launch in cinemas across the region.

The 83rd Venice International Film Festival is approaching – and South Tyrol as a film location is represented also this year. Three projects supported by the IDM Film & Music Commission have made it into the official selection of the Biennale Cinema 2026.

In the second funding call of the year, IDM film funding supports 20 film projects. Around 100 shooting days are scheduled in South Tyrol for the supported productions.

Four productions supported by IDM Film & Music Commission are screening at the 43^rd Filmfest München (26 June – 5 July 2026) across different sections.

IDM Film & Music Commission supports a total of eight music projects in the first funding call of 2026. Five of the funded projects come from Italy (four of which come from South Tyrol), two from Austria, and one from Germany.

On Friday, April 10, the 39th edition of the Bolzano Film Festival Bozen (BFFB) opened with the documentary "Elon Musk Unveiled: The Tesla Experiment" by South Tyrolean director Andreas Pichler (Production: Beetz Brothers), supported by the IDM Film & Music Commission.

With an annual funding budget of 275,000 Euros, the IDM Film & Music Commission supports ambitious music projects across the entire realization process– from initial development and recording until the marketing phase. The goal is, to combine artistic quality with sustainable effects for the region.

IDM Film & Music Commission is supporting twelve projects in the first funding call of the year. Seven of the nine Italian projects come from South Tyrol, two projects from Germany, and one from Austria. 74 shooting days are scheduled in South Tyrol for the realization of the supported productions.

At the Bayerischer Filmpreis ceremony on Friday, 23 January 2026 in Munich, Michael Kofler was awarded in the category „Newcomer-Regiepreis“ (Best Emerging Director) for his feature debut Zweitland.

The IDM Film & Music Commission Südtirol has put out the first call for music projects after broadening its scope of responsibilities to include music funding as well, supporting a total of 10 music projects: six from Italy (all from South Tyrol/Südtirol), one from Germany, two from Austria, and one from Switzerland. These projects represent the broad musical range covered, from indie rock, folk, pop, hip-hop, R&B, and soul to experimental crossovers and even a new rock opera.
