Synopsis


Andrea, a young worker, struggles to navigate a life paycheck to paycheck. Overwhelmed by expectations and circumstances out of his control, Andrea pushes forward blindly, trying to achieve a life that’s systematically unavailable for him.

Director: Federica Poiana

After studying and working with biophysics for a decade, Federica Poiana decided to pursue her childhood dream of working in film. She studied visual communication at Fotoskolan STHLM and graduated in 2021. During her studies, Federica Poiana collaborated with artists of various disciplines to create experimental short films. These productions have premiered at genre film festivals (Dansfilmfestivalen 2023-2024, Johannesburg 1 min. Film festival 2022) and have been shown in art shows. In those years she also started freelancing as 2nd AC in drama and commercial productions. It did not take long before her interests and ambition took her to the directorial department, where she worked as director’s assistant. Some of the production companies she collaborated with include: Pine, Sic Film, Anagram, FLX, Camp David. All the while, she kept on developing her screenwriting and directing skills by independently producing short films, taking part in talent programs and courses. The talent program Nya Röster workshop (2023) led to a short film script that took part in Film Stockholm’s pitch contest. The screenwriting workshop organized by Film Västmanland and led by dramaturg Petra Revenue (2024) led to a short film script currently in development in France. Federica Poianas 1 minute film Tvivel was selected as one of the ten artworks showcased at the CPH 60 sec. Festival (2024), while the comedy short Highlights premiered at Sveriges Kortfilmfestivalen 2025, and is soon gonna be screened at ShorTS Trieste film festival.

Producer: Muhammad Hannan Hamza

From an early age, Muhammad Hannan Hamza developed a keen interest in filmmaking processes and practices, which he further cultivated through online courses in filmmaking and film business on the FutureLearn platform. This passion led him to pursue a Bachelor's degree in cinema-related subjects, during which he produced several short films. Notably, "AnimaMina" was screened at the Premio Sergio Amidei International Film Festival for Best Screenplay in Gorizia in 2021. Following his undergraduate studies, Hamza advanced his education through the International Masters in Cinema Studies (IMACS) program, a collaborative effort between the University of Udine, Stockholm University, and Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. His master's research focused on postcolonial cinema and neorealism within a global context. Beyond his academic and personal film projects, he has gained practical experience in the industry. He served as an Assistant Director at Tesla Productions in Gorizia. More recently, he has taken on the role of Associate Producer at Method S.r.l. since the beginning of this year. Additionally, he contributed as an Assistant Producer for Peter Zeitlinger's latest documentary feature film, which is currently in its post-production phase. In Italy, Muhammad Hannan Hamza also serves as an official intercultural mediator for the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
