Synopsis


A Danish anthropology student arrives on an U.S.-occupied Arctic island to study “beach boys,” but as she falls for a local, love and research collide—forcing her to question who is exploiting whom in a paradise built on extraction.

Director: Amalie Magdalena With Vedelsby

Amalie Magdalena With Vedelsby (b. 1995) (they/them) is a Danish director, artist, writer, and actor based between Oslo and Tromsø. Their interdisciplinary practice moves between moving images, performance, writing, and collective processes, often exploring queerness, displacement, and the porous boundaries between fiction and reality. They hold a BA in Moving Images from Filmkunstskolen in Kabelvåg (2022) and are currently pursuing a BA in Creative Writing at the Art Academy in Tromsø. Vedelsby was a notable collaborator on the hybrid film THE GROUP CRIT, which premiered at CPH:DOX in 2023. They are currently in post-production with their short fiction film WOULD YOU DIG ME UP IF I DIED, the first installment of the "Lofoten Trilogy". Their works have been screened at Kunstnernes Hus in Oslo, the Arctic Moving Image and Film Festival (AMIF), and the Gothenburg International Film Festival among others. They participated in a group exhibition at Documenta in 2022, and have taken part in artist residencies in Mexico. In addition to their artistic work, Vedelsby has experience from both experimental and commercial film work in Denmark, where they also completed a preparatory art school program at Møn Film College
and has worked making campaign videos for various NGO’s. . Their practice is grounded in collaboration, process-based exploration, and an interest in the aesthetics of the unfinished, raw and untamed.

Producer: Iggy Augunset

Iggy Augunset (b. 1997) is a producer and filmmaker based in Tromsø, Norway. Her directorial work blends animation and live-action, delving into themes of sexuality, embodiment, and personal mythology—often with a touch of the mystical. Aliens are a recurring presence. She holds a BA in Moving Images from Kunstfilmskolen i Kabelvåg (2021) and has since built a solid foundation as a producer. From 2021–2022, she worked as a junior producer at Mer Film, contributing to projects such as Burial (dir. Emilija Škarnulytė), ARRU (dir. Elle Sofe Sara), and Hypnosis (dir. Ernst De Geer). In 2024, she co-founded Skissefilm AS with Johanna Nyström and Hamid Waheed. The company focuses on art house short films and nurturing strong creative collaborations. Current projects include Resembles a Body (dir. Waheed), 50 Meters from the Road (dir. Haag & Kleinlein), and the distribution of Nærme (dir. Eli Mai Huang Nesse). Augunset is committed to bold, formally explorative filmmaking. Her own films have screened at festivals including Kortfilmfestivalen, Fredrikstad Animation Festival, Tromsø International Film Festival, Göteborg Film Festival, and NFFTY.
