The IDM Film Fund is now the IDM Film & Music Commission Südtirol: the South Tyrol Music Fund launches in August 2025, strengthening South Tyrol/Südtirol as a music location.
From pre-production and development to recording and post-production including sales through concerts or tours in South Tyrol and Europe. From 2025, the IDM Film & Music Commission Südtirol will fund full and partial music projects on an annual basis, aiming to support local music creators and music-related professions and to advance South Tyrol as a location for music productions at a regional, national, and international level.
Renate Ranzi, Head of the IDM Film & Music Commission Südtirol, is happy to see these two important industries combined under the umbrella of IDM: “For over 10 years the IDM Film Commission has supported local talent and international co-productions. This has turned the South Tyrolean Film Fund and Commission into a major contributor to the development of the film and cultural industry in South Tyrol. The South Tyrolean Music Fund is another important step towards strengthening the local sector, making the region as a whole even more attractive for creative artists.”
Music creators and producers are eligible for funding – subject to the de minimis rule – regardless of where they are based. Local value generation is key: at least 120% of the funding granted must be spent in South Tyrol. Freelance musicians, ensembles, and self-employed music industry professionals as well as companies in the music industry holding valid contracts with artists can apply for funding regardless of their actual location or residence. The prerequisites for application include a Partita IVA, UID, or equivalent code – and a consulting session with IDM. “We are with the music applicants every step of the way, same as with the film fund: from the initial consulting session and application phase to the granting of the funding, all the while reviewing the project progress”, explains Renate Ranzi. An expert committee assesses the cultural, substantive, and economic value of the submitted projects.
