Synopsis


In the occupied Golan, Zain becomes captivated by a rare Syrian cigarette, "Alhamraa," As he and his friends embark on a quest to find it, the political tensions of Nakba Day reveal a bittersweet connection to a homeland he has never known. 

Director: Waref Abu Quba

Waref Abu Quba is an award-winning Syrian-German filmmaker and visual artist. Born near Damascus, he earned a bachelor's degree in art from Damascus University before moving to Germany in 2014. His works, including In Damascus (2014), For Acts for Syria (2019) and Takrar (2023), have premiered and won awards at international film festivals. Waref combines animation, live action and innovative techniques to push creative boundaries. He is celebrated for his deeply personal storytelling that resonates with universal themes of identity, exile, and cultural memory.


Producer: Khaled Homsi

A Syrian/German producer now based in Germany, over the past decade Khaled worked as a production manager on Medallion (2020) and Dolma (2024). In 2024, he founded KEY Film, his own production company in Frankfurt, dedicated to creating meaningful, socially relevant stories. Later that year, he made his debut as a producer on the documentary (The Sixth Fritzsche), marking an exciting new chapter in his career.
