On set: SHERLOCK HOLMES IN THE MOUNTAINS

What happened to Sherlock Holmes in 1891? A TV series, currently being filmed with elaborate sequences, fight scenes, and stunts at multiple locations in the South Tyrolean mountains, investigates the mystery and tells an exciting story between mystery‑thriller and crime drama.

Behind the scenes: the mystery-thriller “Wolf”

A peculiar atmosphere pervades the forest near the location Caprile (municipality of Tesimo) – hovering between mystique and the bustle of a brightly lit film set in the middle of the night. With over 30 shooting days between April and May, the mystery-thriller “Wolf” (working title) by South Tyrolean filmmaker Nancy Camaldo is being made here.

Pasta, Wine, and Discipline

Tuscany Atmosphere in Margreid: Casòn Hirschprunn served as a filming location for the IDM-supported feature film A Stroll to Syracuse. Starring Charly Hübner and featuring many local talents both in front of and behind the camera. Follow the set visit.

Behind the Scenes of “Ting”

“If you‘ve finished eating, please stand up and make room for the next group!” Lunch on set isn‘t a break left to chance; it‘s a gear in a perfect mechanism: A film set follows no one‘s whims – not even within the historic walls of the St. Florian Hospice in Egna, the stage for several key scenes of the production “Ting“.

Polvo Serán: Special Screening at Filmclub Bozen

On Monday, March 16, an event screening of Polvo Serán took place at the Filmclub Bozen, attended by director Carlos Marques-Marcet and producer Giovanni Pompili.

Crime and Understanding

Spring is in the air. Traditional folk songs can be heard from an abandoned hotel in the woods. But behind this deceptively idyllic scene lurks a devastating truth. TAKE visited the set of Elisa, the latest film by Leonardo Di Costanzo. The production of this film is supported by the IDM Film Commission Südtirol.

The Mountain Bride: Vermiglio

Vermiglio, directed by Bolzano-based filmmaker Maura Delpero, tells a shattering and deeply moving story set away from the frontlines of World War II. The quietly powerful project has received widespread international acclaim. Following its Silver Lion win in Venice, Vermiglio earned nominations for both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. In May 2025, the film was honored with seven prestigious David di Donatello Awards: Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Producer, Best Casting, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound. TAKE had the opportunity to speak with the director at the beginning of this journey during the on-location shoot near the former pilgrims’ hospital of St. Florian in the village of Neumarkt near Laag.

An unusual road trip

An unexpected friendship, the language of grief, and a multilingual production trip: TAKE had the opportunity to visit the set of the novel adaptation Marianengraben, a production involving several countries.

Zweitland – three countries come together

Two brothers. One wife. Deadly bombings. A piece of South Tyrolean history shown by local director and screenwriter Michael Kofler. Zweitland is his feature film debut.

“I’m my own first spectator.”

Hans Hofer, director and screenwriter from Vinschgau/Val Venosta, ventures into a new genre, capturing his first documentary and shooting—for the first time ever—in South Tyrol. Spectacular shots of nature and emotional portraits bring to life the story of Stilfserjochstraße, the Passo Stelvio mountain pass road, and the impact it has had on the development of the region. In an interview with TAKE magazine, Hofer tells us how his own roots weave into the narrative.

The last time ever

Anna must say goodbye. The lines between reality and memory are blurring in “Der Maulbeerbaum” (“The Mulberry Tree”), a short film by Cornelia Schöpf and Federico Campana. A visit to the film set in Andrian/Andriano.

The fine line between good and evil

Prize-winning director Giorgio Diritti has an eclectic range, depicting everything from Italian painter Antonio Ligabue to his latest project about the “Kinder der Landstrasse” programme in Switzerland. Lubo was shot in Malga Fane. We met the director and his team last November to find out more.

“Some things simply must be said out loud”

The biopic Persona non grata by Antonin Svoboda is a drama on structural power abuse, sexual violence, and transgenerational trauma inspired by former alpine ski racer Nicola Werdenigg. TAKE has sat down with Antonin Svoboda to talk about his approach and the challenges he has faced. Also present: leading actress Gerti Drassl and Svoboda’s daughter, actress Maya Unger.
